Books

Here are three books that have a significant influence on my life:

The Bible

This book is full of stories that were taught during my Sunday School classes at my local church.  From an early age, I was taught parables of right and wrong, believing in a better future, and the power of faith and love.  Many of these teachings have instilled in me the values that shape my life to this day.

Of Mice and Men
John Steinbeck

This book was the first book I read in High School and caused me to start reading more advanced books.  For the first time, I was challenged in reading novels with complex themes, deep character development, and mature subject matter.  I consider this book as opening my eyes to the serious and difficult nature of the adult world.

The Fault In Our Stars
John Green

This book caused me to rethink how I should be living my life.  The main protagonist was a cancer patient who ends up living vicariously as she counts down her short lifespan.  It made me realize that all human beings are living with a finite amount of life and should be taking advantage of every opportunity.

  2. "The Fault in Our Stars" is the first John Green book I've read. It's so good! I love how he writes in an 'old friend' kind of style. I'm planning to read his other books during the summer.
